Cracked mouth corners

Cracked mouth corners are painful erosions, fissures, or redness appearing at the point where the lips meet. They can result from irritation, dryness, a yeast or bacterial infection, iron and B-vitamin deficiencies, drooling, malocclusion, or poorly fitted dental prostheses. The lesions may burn, bleed, and make eating or speaking difficult. If they recur, persist for a long time, or are severe, they require a medical or dermatological consultation.
