Excess skin

Excess skin describes a situation in which the skin loses tension or remains in a greater amount than the current tissue volume requires. It can affect the face, neck, abdomen, arms, thighs, or breasts. Causes include the aging process, pregnancy, significant weight loss, genetic predisposition, or diminished skin quality. Excess skin may have aesthetic significance, but sometimes also causes chafing, irritation, or discomfort. Assessment requires an individual specialist consultation.
