Herpes (cold sores)
Herpes is an infection with the HSV virus, most often manifesting as painful blisters, burning, itching, or crusts in the area of the mouth, nose, or genitals. The infection tends to recur, especially with weakened immunity, stress, infections, sun exposure, or skin injury. Active herpes can be a contraindication to certain skin procedures. Frequent recurrences, extensive lesions, or symptoms near the eye require medical consultation.
