Histopathological examination

A histopathological examination is an analysis of a tissue sample taken from a patient, performed under a microscope by a pathologist. It allows the structure of cells and tissues to be assessed and helps determine whether a lesion is benign, inflammatory, precancerous, or malignant. The material for examination may come, among others, from an excised skin lesion, a mole, a nodule, or a tissue fragment taken during a procedure. The result of the examination should be discussed with the doctor who ordered the procedure.
