Lactic acid
Lactic acid is an alpha-hydroxy acid from the AHA group, naturally occurring, among other places, in the skin as a component of the so-called natural moisturizing factor. In cosmetology it is used for its exfoliating properties and its support of moisture retention in the stratum corneum of the epidermis. It can be used on dry, rough, dull, or uneven-textured skin. Its tolerance depends on the concentration and formula of the preparation. Caution should be exercised on sensitive or damaged skin.
