Lipedema

Lipedema is a chronic disorder of fatty tissue distribution, most often affecting the lower limbs, less often the arms. It is characterized by symmetrical enlargement of circumferences, tenderness, a feeling of heaviness, easy bruising, and disproportion of the figure. It usually does not involve the feet, which helps distinguish it from certain types of lymphedema. Lipedema is not simply being overweight, so diagnosis and choice of management require a specialist consultation.
