Lymphedema

Lymphedema is a chronic or recurring accumulation of fluid in tissues resulting from disturbed lymph drainage. It can affect the limbs, face, trunk, or the area after surgical procedures. It manifests as an increase in circumference, a feeling of heaviness, skin tension, limited mobility, or discomfort. Causes may include congenital lymphatic system disorders, injuries, infections, oncological treatment, or surgery. Diagnosis and choice of management require a medical or physiotherapy consultation.
