Marionette lines

Marionette lines are lines running from the corners of the mouth toward the chin, which can give the face a sadder or more tired expression. They form as a result of changes related to aging, loss of tissue volume, the effect of gravity, facial expression, and skin laxity in the lower part of the face. They often co-occur with drooping mouth corners and a change in the jaw contour. Their assessment should include facial proportions, skin quality, tissue tension, and the patient's natural facial expression.
