Nail melanoma
Nail melanoma is a rare form of melanoma developing within the nail apparatus of the hands or feet, often visible as a dark band, spot, or irregular discoloration of the nail. Not every dark change under the nail indicates cancer, as a similar appearance can be caused by injuries, hematomas, infections, or discoloration. Particularly concerning are changes that are enlarging, irregular, involve the skin around the nail, or occur without any injury. They require urgent dermatological consultation.
