Nasal septum

The nasal septum is a structure made of cartilage and bone that divides the nasal cavity into two parts. Its proper position matters for the free flow of air, breathing comfort, and nasal function. A deviated septum can be congenital or post-traumatic, and is sometimes associated with a feeling of nasal congestion, snoring, recurring infections, or difficulty breathing through one side. Assessment of the nasal septum requires an ENT examination or specialist consultation.
