Photoepilation is a method of hair reduction using light energy, most often a laser or intense pulsed light. The light is absorbed by the pigment in the hair and then converted into heat that affects the structures responsible for hair growth. The effectiveness and safety of the procedure depend on, among other things, hair color, skin phototype, device parameters, and eligibility for the treatment. Before starting therapy, an assessment of contraindications is needed.
