Protruding ears
Protruding ears is an anatomical feature involving a greater deviation of the auricles from the head. It can affect one or both ears and results, among other things, from cartilage structure, an underdeveloped antihelical fold, or an increased depth of the ear's concha. It usually does not affect hearing, but it can have aesthetic and psychological significance, especially in children and young people. Assessment of protruding ears should take into account symmetry, the structure of the auricle, and the patient's expectations.
