Purulent pimples

Purulent pimples are skin lesions filled with purulent content, most often related to inflammation within a hair follicle or sebaceous gland. They can appear in the course of acne, folliculitis, or skin superinfection. They usually take the form of a red pustule with a light or yellowish tip. They should not be squeezed on one's own, as this can worsen inflammation and promote scarring. Extensive, painful, or recurring lesions require a dermatological consultation.
