Recessed chin
A recessed chin is a facial feature in which the chin is positioned further back relative to the other structures of the profile. It can affect facial proportions, the jawline, the appearance of the neck, and the perception of the nasal profile. Causes may include the structure of the jawbone, bite relationships, or individual soft tissue anatomy. A recessed chin can have aesthetic significance, but sometimes also requires an orthodontic or surgical assessment, especially when accompanied by bite disorders or chewing function problems.
