Sagging abdomen

A sagging abdomen refers to laxity of the skin and tissues in the area of the abdominal wall. It can occur after pregnancy, significant weight loss, weight fluctuations, surgery, or in connection with the natural aging process. It is sometimes accompanied by stretch marks, excess fatty tissue, scars, or diastasis of the rectus abdominis muscles. In some people it causes chafing, irritation, or discomfort in daily functioning. Choosing management requires an assessment of the skin, tissues, and abdominal wall.
