Subcutaneous pimples
Subcutaneous pimples is a colloquial term for deeper-located inflammatory lesions, often felt as painful lumps under the skin. They can occur in the course of acne, especially when a hair follicle opening becomes blocked and inflammation develops. Lesions of this type can persist longer than superficial pustules and increase the risk of discoloration or scarring. They should not be squeezed. Recurring or severe lesions require a dermatological consultation.
