Double chin
A double chin is a colloquial term for an additional bulge or fold visible under the chin, in the submental area. It can result from an accumulation of fatty tissue, skin laxity, anatomical build, a recessed chin, age, or weight fluctuations. It is not always related to being overweight, so weight loss alone does not necessarily change its appearance proportionally. Assessment of a double chin should take into account the jawline, neck, skin quality, and facial profile.
