Vitiligo

Vitiligo is a chronic skin condition related to the loss of melanocytes, the cells responsible for producing pigment. It most often has an autoimmune background and manifests as clearly lighter, depigmented patches on the skin. Lesions may occur, among other places, on the face, hands, trunk, or limbs. Vitiligo is not a contagious disease, but it can affect a patient's psychological comfort. Diagnosis and choice of management require a dermatological consultation.
