Polylactic acid

As we age, our skin gradually loses collagen - the main connective tissue protein responsible for firmness and elasticity. It is the loss of collagen that causes skin sagging, loss of volume and the appearance of wrinkles. A modern way to reverse this process is the Poly-L-Lactic Acid (PLLA) treatment, a preparation that stimulates the skin to regenerate itself.

Polylactic acid works differently from classic fillers - it does not have the effect of immediately mechanically "pushing out" the wrinkle, but stimulates fibroblasts to produce new collagen and elastin, so the improvement in skin quality is natural, gradual and long-lasting.

What does the treatment consist of?

Polylactic acid treatment involves injecting the skin with a special preparation that acts as a biostimulator - stimulating cells to produce new collagen and elastin. The preparation is injected into the skin using a thin needle or cannula, and the entire procedure takes about 60 minutes and is performed under local anesthesia. Once completed, the doctor massages the treated area to distribute the product evenly, and the patient is advised to massage the skin on their own for several days. As a result, the polylactic acid gradually begins to stimulate regenerative processes, and the skin regains its firmness, elasticity and youthful appearance with each passing week.

Treatment areas

In our clinic, polylactic acid is used on various parts of the body, including:

  • Face - oval improvement, shallowing of nasolabial furrows and marionette lines, reduction of "hamsters", volumetrics of cheeks and temples,
  • Arms - firming flabby skin, improving tension,
  • other parts of the body - such as the décolletage, thighs, buttocks - to improve firmness and reduce signs of aging.

Effects of polylactic acid treatments

Polylactic acid treatment produces natural and gradual results that appear several weeks after injection. The skin becomes firmer and more elastic, regains lost volume, and wrinkles and furrows are smoothed out. The oval of the face is also improved, as is skin tone in other areas of the body, such as the arms and décolleté. The effect is subtle, but long-lasting - it lasts up to two years.

Key results of the treatment:

  • Smoothing wrinkles and furrows,
  • Restoring volume and improving facial contours,
  • Reduce skin sagging and improve skin density,
  • Firming the arms, face and other areas of the body,
  • A natural, fresh and rejuvenated appearance.

Recommendations after the procedure

After polylactic acid treatment, the skin requires proper care to ensure that the effect of the therapy is even and long-lasting. A key element of recovery is regular massaging of the injected area, which prevents the formation of bumps and allows the preparation to spread evenly. It is also important to avoid factors that could weaken the effect of the preparation, such as overexposure to the sun or high temperatures.

Basic recommendations after the procedure:

  • Massaging the treatment area for 5 minutes, 5 times a day, for 5 days (the so-called 5-5-5 rule),
  • Avoiding intense physical exertion for several days,
  • Abandoning saunas, tanning beds and hot baths for about 2 weeks,
  • Use of high sun protection (SPF 50+),
  • Taking care of skin hygiene to avoid infections.

FAQ

Answers to frequently asked questions about a variety of treatments and procedures.

What is the difference between polylactic acid and hyaluronic acid?

Hyaluronic acid acts as a filler - it instantly replenishes wrinkles and adds volume. Polylactic acid is a biostimulator - instead of filling, it stimulates the skin to produce its own collagen and elastin. As a result, the effects appear gradually, but are natural and last up to 2 years.

When are the effects of polylactic acid treatment visible?

The first results can be seen after a few weeks, and the full effect appears after a series of 2-3 treatments performed at intervals of 4-6 weeks. The skin becomes tighter and firmer, and furrows and wrinkles gradually become shallower.

How many treatments are needed?

Usually 2-3 treatments are recommended to achieve optimal skin rejuvenation and improvement. The exact number of sessions depends on the patient's individual needs and skin condition.

How long do the effects of polylactic acid last?

At our clinic, we use polylactic acid on the face (oval, cheeks, furrows, "hamsters"), arms (skin firming) and other parts of the body, such as the décolletage, thighs or buttocks, to improve skin tone and elasticity.
