Breast augmentation with implants
It is worth remembering that breast augmentation is not a professional phrase. Plastic surgeons most often use the term breast surgery, but patients or their relatives rarely use it. During a breast augmentation procedure, not only the size of the breast is changed, it can also be modeled in an appropriate way. For this purpose, well-chosen implants (usually silicone) are used, which are tailored to a woman's expectations, as well as her anatomical conditions.
Breast augmentation is an operation performed under general anesthesia. The skin is incised in the subpectoral fold or around the areolae. The method of performing the procedure using axillary access is becoming increasingly rare, as this carries a high risk of complications. Implants are implanted under the mammary glands or pectoral muscles. The final stage of breast augmentation is the placement of bandages, as well as a special shaping bra. It should be worn for 6-8 weeks after surgery. It stabilizes the implants in the correct position and helps shape the breasts. The first check-up usually takes place one week after the breast augmentation procedure, and after two weeks the stitches are removed and PSM, or scar elimination program, can be started.
For many patients, breast augmentation is an operation that allows them to change their existing lives. The primary indication for it is dissatisfaction with the shape or size of the breasts (often both). By undergoing breast augmentation and thus changing the appearance of the chest, a woman regains a sense of self-esteem and attractiveness. This type of surgery is also performed for reconstruction purposes, this is especially true for women diagnosed with breast cancer who have had to opt for amputation. Another indication is previous unsuccessful attempts at breast augmentation and appearance correction, which led to distortion of the breasts. The final results of the procedure can usually be assessed 3-6 months after the procedure.
An operation such as breast augmentation makes the appearance and size of the breasts no longer a source of female complexes. Scars from incisions are hardly visible, and after the procedure is performed, each patient is guaranteed a physiotherapeutic consultation, during which she is taught appropriate movement behavior. This makes it possible to minimize swelling and the feeling of pain in the breasts. It is very important that breast augmentation through implants is one of the safest methods of changing its appearance. Their replacement is often not necessary, although this depends on the changes that occur in the patient's life (such as pregnancy). It should be noted that women who have opted for breast augmentation can breastfeed, and this is true both when the implant is inserted under the pectoral muscle and the mammary gland.
The possibility of obtaining the expected results in a relatively short period of time makes more and more women opt for breast augmentation. As a result, their appearance changes, but also their mood and even the comfort of their lives. However, the most important determinant for this type of surgery should be safety. When deciding on breast augmentation, it is important to choose a professional clinic and an experienced plastic surgeon.
