What is a Deep Plane Face Lift and how does it proceed?

Deep Plane Face Lift is an advanced surgical facelift technique that involves lifting and repositioning the deep structures of the face, including the superficial fascia (SMAS) and facial muscles. Unlike traditional methods, which focus mainly on stretching the skin, this technique allows for more natural and permanent rejuvenation results.

The procedure begins with incisions made around the hairline, in front of and behind the ear, allowing the surgeon to access deeper layers of tissue. Next, through precise preparation, the facial structures are lifted and repositioned, restoring their youthful appearance. This ensures that the skin is not overly tight and the face retains its natural facial expressions.

How do I prepare for the Deep Plane Face Lift procedure?

Preparation for Deep Plane Face Lift begins with a consultation with the surgeon. It is necessary to discuss expectations, assess health and qualify the patient for the procedure. The next step is to perform standard blood tests and assess general health.

Blood-thinning medications should be discontinued a few days before surgery, after consulting with your doctor. It is advisable to limit or stop alcohol consumption and smoking a minimum of one week before surgery to help the healing process. In the case of general anesthesia, the last meal should be eaten 8-10 hours before surgery.

Recovery after Deep Plane Face Lift

The recovery period after the procedure usually lasts between 10 and 14 days. During this time, swelling, bruising, and skin tightness may occur, all of which will gradually subside. It is recommended to avoid strenuous physical activity, sun exposure, and saunas for at least 3 weeks after the procedure. The stitches are usually removed after 7-10 days. It takes a few months for the full effects of the procedure to become visible, once the healing process is complete.

Contraindications to performing a Deep Plane Face Lift

The main contraindications to performing a Deep Plane Face Lift include uncompensated cardiac conditions, which can increase the risk of complications. Elevated blood pressure is also a significant risk during the procedure, as are blood clotting disorders that can lead to excessive bleeding during and after surgery and autoimmune diseases, such as lupus, that affect the healing process.

Taking blood-thinning medication, if it is not possible to discontinue them before the procedure, is also a contraindication to a facelift.

FAQ

Answers to frequently asked questions about a variety of treatments and procedures.

How is the Deep Plane Face Lift different from a traditional facelift?

The Deep Plane Face Lift differs from a traditional facelift in that during the procedure, the surgeon lifts deep facial structures, such as the SMAS fascia and facial tissues, rather than just the skin. As a result, the effect is more natural and long-lasting, and the risk of excessive skin tightening is greatly reduced.

How long do the effects of the treatment last?

The effects of the Deep Plane Face Lift last an average of 10 to 15 years, making it one of the most durable rejuvenation treatments. This time may vary depending on the patient's lifestyle, skin care and individual predisposition.

Is the procedure painful?

The procedure is performed under general or deep local anesthesia, so the patient does not feel pain during the operation. After the procedure, there may be mild discomfort, swelling and skin tightness, which usually subsides within a few days.

What are the risks associated with the procedure?

Like any surgical procedure, Deep Plane Face Lift involves some risk of complications, such as infections, hematoma, skin numbness or facial asymmetry. These risks can be mitigated by following the surgeon's instructions and ensuring proper post-operative hygiene.

Can Deep Plane Face Lift be combined with other treatments?

Yes, Deep Plane Face Lift can be combined with other rejuvenation procedures like eyelid plasty, neck lift or laser treatments. Combining these procedures allows for a comprehensive rejuvenation effect.
