The Deep Plane Face Lift is one of the most advanced rejuvenation procedures, and it is gaining increasing popularity due to its spectacular results. One of the patients who underwent this procedure is Monika Chwajoł—a singer and businesswoman. We spoke with Monika and Dr. Marek Szczyt onSzczyt PięknapodcastSzczyt Pięknaabout the reasons behind her decision, as well as her doubts and concerns leading up to the procedure.
It all starts with a decision
Monika Chwajoł revealed that she had been thinking about getting a facelift for several years. “ I first came to the clinic seven years ago; I was approaching forty.” I told the doctor that I wanted to look good by the time I turned forty," the singer revealed in an interview. At that time, however, Monika’s skin was perfectly cared for, and her face looked so good that the specialists at Dr Szczyt Clinic Dr Szczyt there was no need for a facelift.
A few years later, Monika Chwajoł returned to the clinic. “As I got older, my face began to lose its radiance; it lacked the firmness I had always loved.” I started reading up on and researching various procedures, including those at Dr Szczyt Clinic, which I had visited before. I decided that the Deep Plane Lift procedure was the one that would meet my expectations,” the patient explained the reasons behind her decision inSzczyt Pięknapodcast. The woman wanted a beautifully rejuvenated face, not an exaggerated, artificial look—such a result was Monika’s greatest fear.
Nine months after the procedure, we could see the full results of the surgery. Her face looks natural, with no signs of aging. “I feel perfect now (...) It looks absolutely amazing. My face looks great—it’s radiant,” the singer emphasized.
What is the Deep Plane Face Lift procedure?
The Deep Plane Face Lift is an advanced facelift technique that works deeper than traditional methods. Instead of simply tightening the skin, the surgeon lifts and repositions the deep structures—the SMAS fascia, facial muscles, and facial support tissues. This results in a natural rejuvenating effect without an unnatural “pulled” appearance.
The key elements of this technique are:
- working on the deeper layers of the face, not just the skin,
- lifting and repositioning of the SMAS and facial muscles,
- a rejuvenating effect that looks natural and lasts for years.
The procedure involves making precise incisions along the hairline and near the ear, providing access to deep underlying structures. The surgeon gently releases, lifts, and reposition these structures, restoring a more youthful contour and proportions to the face. This technique minimizes skin tension and preserves full facial mobility.
The steps of the procedure include:
- making discreet incisions along the hairline and around the ears,
- preparation of deeper facial tissues,
- lifting and repositioning of facial structures for a natural facelift,
- gentle closure of wounds without excessive stretching of the skin.
“The biggest fear is the anesthesia,” or dealing with pre-procedure anxieties
A deep plane facelift is a major surgical procedure that requires a relatively long recovery period. Undergoing this procedure often comes with certain concerns. “For me, the biggest concern before any procedure is the anesthesia ," said Monika Chwajoł. " I didn’t have any other fears—that something wouldn’t work out, that something would go wrong. As for healing—every patient is different, and everyone heals differently (...). If we follow the recommendations of the doctor performing the surgery, the healing process goes smoothly as well," emphasized the singer.
It’s true that anesthesia often causes anxiety among patients. General anesthesia places a significant strain on the body. You can read more about this in our article: How does general anesthesia affect the body?.
However, to shed some light on the issue of anesthesia, we asked Dr. Marek Szczyt how this works in the case of a Deep Plane Face Lift: " At our clinic, we most often perform the procedure under what is known as intravenous anesthesia, or sedation." This is the type of anesthesia used, for example, during a colonoscopy. It is convenient in that there is no tube in the mouth, and the patient breathes on their own but feels nothing (...). It is a safe form of anesthesia, offering great comfort for both the surgeon and the patient, and is always performed in the presence of an anesthesiologist,” explained the plastic surgery specialist.
Although Monika Chwajoł had no other concerns about the surgery, Dr. Szczyt emphasized that some patients express additional reservations. “Patients often ask if it’s safe. In experienced hands—yes. But you really need to have experience and be careful, because we’re operating in an area where there’s a network of nerves (...). We have to be very careful because we’re working close to those nerves, ” emphasized Dr. Szczyt.
The specialist also addressed concerns regarding the lengthy recovery period. “The recovery period after a Deep Plane Lift is shorter than after a traditional facelift or an SMAS lift, because the skin is separated from the underlying tissues only over a small area,” the doctor emphasized. “At this point, post-operative swelling is minimal. It happens that patients come in for their stitches to be removed on the tenth day and are already wearing makeup, have washed their hair (...) and no one can tell they’ve just had surgery. We prevent swelling and bruising by using tissue adhesives ," added Dr. Szczyt. He also emphasized that the shorter recovery period is due to the techniques and methods used during surgery at the clinic.
Patients are sometimes concerned about the procedure looking unnatural, but Dr. Szczyt reassures them: “My goal is to ensure the result looks as natural as possible and that the incision heals nicely. We strive to achieve this in line with our sense of aesthetics.”
“I’m someone who openly admits to it,” or plastic surgery in the public sphere
Monika Chwajoł officially informed her social media followers that she had undergone the procedure. On Instagram, she shared updates on both her stay at the clinic and her recovery process. " I’m someone who openly admits to this. I’m not saying I just slather on creams and oils and my skin just tightens up (...). Skin ages with time. I promised my followers that I would show every stage. That’s what I set out to do, and that’s what I did,” the singer emphasizes. She also added that patients considering a visit to Dr Szczyt Clinic Dr Szczyt view her social media posts and decide whether to schedule a consultation.
