Bez kompleksów– Episode 6: Irena’s Story
The sixth episode of the showBez kompleksów), hosted by Małgorzata Rozenek-Majdan, tells the deeply moving story of Irena—a 50-year-old woman from a small town who has devoted her entire life to her family, her work, and her household duties. Despite her cheerful nature, one shadow has loomed over her life for years—a complex that robbed her of her self-confidence and the desire to smile broadly.
The heroine's story
Ms. Irena was struggling with two main issues that, taken together, had a significant impact on her self-esteem and daily functioning:
1. Missing teeth. Irena’s biggest problem—one that affected her daily interactions and self-esteem—was her missing teeth. Her embarrassment about showing her teeth prevented her from smiling freely, which was a burden in both her work and personal life. Her dream of a beautiful and healthy smile was what motivated her to sign up for the program.
2. Drooping eyelids. In addition, her drooping upper and lower eyelids not only accentuated the tired or sad look on her face, but more importantly, they restricted her field of vision, which posed a real functional problem that made it difficult for her to perform her duties.
Dr. Marek Szczyt and Dr. Michał Nawrocki, M.D., held a joint consultation to plan a comprehensive makeover for Ms. Irena. They focused on two main areas:
- replacing missing teeth with implants,
- upper and lower eyelid surgery to refresh the eyes and restore the face’s natural expression.
Dental Department (Nawrocki Clinic)
Ms. Rena began her transformation at the Nawrocki Clinic in Gdańsk. During the consultation, Dr. Nawrocki recommended an implant-supported prosthesis—a solution that offers stability, aesthetics, and comfort.
The teeth causing chronic inflammation were removed from her mouth, and implants were then placed. Irena left the clinic with a beautiful temporary restoration, allowing her to smile broadly even at this stage. The final teeth were fabricated before the completion of the entire transformation.
Surgical and dermatological phase ( Dr Szczyt Clinic)
Six weeks after her dental surgery, Ms. Irena visited the Dr Szczyt Clinic. During the consultation, they discussed the details of the eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty) – for both the upper and lower eyelids.
The surgery was performed by Dr. Krzysztof Potocki, the same surgeon who had performed a similar procedure on Dr. Marek Szczyt a few years earlier.
The next step was a treatment to improve the quality of the facial skin. Dr. Aleksandra Rymsza, M.D., performed:
- fractional laser, which rejuvenates and thickens the skin (resurfacing treatment),
- platelet-rich plasma, which utilizes the body’s natural regenerative processes.
Eight weeks after her procedures, Irena was ready for the final stage of her transformation—working on her appearance and style.
The hairstylist suggested subtle highlights and root touch-ups, which covered the gray hair and gave the hairstyle a light, airy look.
For Irena, the session with the makeup artist was a real lesson in femininity—she learned not only how to contour her face, but also how to use bronzer and techniques to visually lift her facial contours.
The show’s stylist showed Irena how to dress with class and elegance—in a way that’s affordable, practical, yet very feminine. This meeting opened up new possibilities for her to develop her own personal style.
The show's finale – a new chapter in Ms. Irena's story
By the show’s finale, Irena was a completely different person from the one we met at the beginning. The shy woman who used to hide her smile was gone. We saw an elegant, radiant woman, confident in her beauty and strength.
Irena's natural beauty was subtly enhanced—not altered. It was precisely this subtlety of the transformation that made the final result so moving.
