Breast reduction is a procedure that is gaining increasing recognition among women struggling with overly large breasts. Ewa Kępys, a well-known actress, model, and photographer, underwent breast reduction surgery at Dr Szczyt Chirurgia Plastyczna Clinic, performed by Dr Zofia Bochen, a specialist in plastic surgery and aesthetic medicine. In the Szczyt Piękna podcast, she talked about what led her to make this decision, as well as her experience before and after the procedure.

What made Ewa Kępys decide to undergo breast reduction surgery?

For many years, Ewa struggled with tremendous discomfort, both physical and psychological, related to having a large bust. - I felt enormous psychological discomfort, I knew I was perceived through the lens of having large breasts. Over time, physical ailments were added to that discomfort, such as degeneration of the collarbone, spinal problems, skin chafing, and major difficulties in everyday life – says Ewa.

Buying a bra became an enormous challenge, and her large breasts also got in the way of her work – in the world of modeling, they were not an asset. She decided to have the surgery after many years of consideration and conversations with her partner, who supported her throughout the process from the very beginning.

What did the process of arriving at the decision to have plastic surgery look like?

- I spent almost 20 years arriving at this decision, ever since puberty, when my breasts started to grow – says Ewa Kępys.

She made the decision to have surgery when she started noticing that her body no longer looked the way it used to, her symptoms were getting worse, and her bust needed a change. Her choice fell on Dr Szczyt Clinic, whose procedures and results inspired her complete trust.

Before the procedure, Ewa did thorough research, but Dr Szczyt Clinic was her first choice from the start. - I knew from the very beginning that I would have the procedure done at Dr Szczyt Clinic. I became even more certain of this decision after seeing the results of your team's surgeries – the patient emphasizes.

Fears before the surgery versus reality

Ewa didn't have major concerns before the procedure, but her partner pointed out that breast reduction is a serious operation that carries a risk of complications. Although Ewa was ready, her partner was worried about the safety of the procedure.

The surgery went well, but the first days after the operation were the hardest. - The hardest days were the day of the surgery and the first 24 hours afterward. I had to deal with a lot of emotions, but by the next day everything was back to normal – Ewa recalls. The recovery process went smoothly, because Ewa followed Dr Zofia Bochen's recommendations closely. Thanks to this, healing was quick and free of complications.

Qualifying for the procedure

The eligibility process for the procedure began with a detailed surgical consultation. As Dr Zofia Bochen emphasizes, not every patient qualifies for surgery, especially if she has health issues that could pose a risk. It sometimes happens that patients are not qualified for the procedure due to certain poorly managed chronic conditions. It is important for the patient to inform the doctors about all her ailments and the medications she takes. If a patient does not qualify for surgery, the doctor looks for other ways to address the problem.

Is a large bust really a big problem?

Some people may see a large bust as an asset and a symbol of femininity, but women dealing with this issue often go through difficult moments. - A large bust can be a truly significant problem, especially when it comes to naturally large breasts. (…) In most cases, such breasts are a real ordeal – says Dr Zofia Bochen, explaining how a large weight on the chest can lead to numerous health issues, such as back, shoulder, or headaches. - A large weight on the chest can cause spinal problems and shoulder discomfort. This is further linked to headaches and numbness in the arms – the specialist adds.

When is the best time to have breast reduction surgery?

Dr Zofia Bochen emphasized that there is no lower age limit for patients who can undergo breast surgery. Everything depends on the individual case. At the same time, she noted that women who are planning to have children in the future often ask about the possibility of breastfeeding after surgery. - Most breast reduction methods preserve part of the gland along with the milk ducts, which allows for the possibility of breastfeeding, although there is never a guarantee – Dr Bochen emphasizes.

Returning to activity after surgery

Ewa Kępys quickly got back into shape after the surgery. - I got back to being active very quickly, because after just three weeks I got on the stepper and started training. After six weeks I returned to activity at an even higher level – says Ewa Kępys, noting that she followed her doctor's recommendations closely.

After the surgery, Ewa felt an enormous difference in her life. She started wearing feminine clothes with a neckline and also feels much more comfortable going without a bra. Her bust's new appearance not only improved her quality of life, but also brought her into a whole new level of everyday comfort.

Ewa Kępys's whole story and her experience with breast reduction, performed by Dr Zofia Bochen, is an example of how a procedure can improve quality of life, health, and well-being. A patient who struggled with physical and psychological discomfort for many years now enjoys life to the fullest, free from the ailments that once affected her.
