Therapeutic energy boosts

Electrotherapy is a physiotherapy treatment aimed at treating pain and supporting the body's regeneration. It involves the use of low- and medium-frequency direct and pulsed currents, which create a therapeutic electrical stimulus that supports tissue healing. Therapeutic currents are a safe method of physiotherapy. Proven effective over many years, this treatment is often recommended by doctors as one of the fundamental elements of therapy for many ailments. Electrotherapy can be used in combination with other physical therapy methods.

Types of electrotherapy

The basis for proceeding with electrotherapy is to determine what type of treatment will be appropriate for the patient and the ailment he or she is experiencing. Types of electrotherapy:

  • TENS currents (transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation) are a method of electrostimulation using low-frequency impulse currents, which have a strong analgesic effect. It is worth mentioning that TENS currents work in two ways. First, we stimulate the production of substances called endogenous opiates (specific painkillers) by the patient's body, and second, we block pain signals that are transmitted by the nervous system. This method is mainly used in the treatment of back pain and rheumatic pain.
  • Galvanization uses unidirectional current. Choosing the right parameter and the way the electrodes are placed relieves pain and aids in the process of tissue regeneration. It is also helpful during discopathy and muscle tension.
  • Electrostimulation is a treatment that uses a steady stream of electrical impulses to cause controlled muscle contractions, stimulating the muscles and improving blood flow. This method is effective in treating movement disorders such as paresis and nervous system disorders.

Course of electrotherapy treatment

In order to perform the procedure, electrodes are placed on the patient's body. The duration of a single session depends on the type of procedure, its location, as well as specific doses and parameters. The procedure usually lasts from a few to several dozen minutes, but as mentioned above, it depends on the patient.

Effects of electrotherapy

Due to the current's primary purpose of pain relief, the effects are felt immediately after treatment. Current treatment accelerates wound healing and tissue reconstruction, and has an anti-inflammatory effect. For best results, the treatment should be repeated daily for five or ten days.

Indications for electrotherapy

The treatment is intended for people suffering from all types of discopathy, spinal disorders, neuralgia, rheumatic diseases, headaches, and migraines. It is also effective in treating post-traumatic conditions and all types of tissue inflammation.

Contraindications to electrotherapy

Electrotherapy cannot be performed if the patient has an implanted electronic device (pacemaker), endoprostheses, cancer, purulent inflammation of the skin and soft tissues, eczema, ulcers, local sensory disturbances, spastic paralysis, risk of embolism, thrombophlebitis, occlusive arteriosclerosis, general infections, menstruation, or is pregnant.

FAQ

Answers to frequently asked questions about a variety of treatments and procedures.

How to make an appointment at Dr Szczyt Clinic?

You can schedule a visit by calling 22 654 90 60 or via the website under Consultation appointments.

How do you choose the right treatment at Dr Szczyt Clinic?

The best way to choose the right treatment at a plastic surgery and aesthetic medicine clinic is to start with a consultation with a specialist. During the visit, the doctor will conduct a detailed medical interview, familiarize themselves with the patient's expectations, and assess their health and the specific nature of the aesthetic problem. Based on this information, they will advise on which treatments will be appropriate to achieve the desired results. The consultation also allows you to discuss the available options, their potential effects, and any possible risks, which makes it easier to make an informed decision.

What are the risks associated with plastic surgery procedures?

Every plastic surgery procedure, like any medical intervention, involves certain risks. The most common complications include infections, bleeding, reactions to anesthesia, and scarring. Less common complications include blood clots, pulmonary embolism, and sensory disturbances in the operated area. Proper preparation of the patient, careful qualification for the procedure, and the experience and professionalism of the medical team significantly minimize these risks. It is also important to follow the doctor's recommendations in the postoperative period, which allows for a faster and safer recovery.

Are aesthetic medicine procedures painful?

Aesthetic medicine treatments are usually minimally invasive and involve minimal discomfort. Most of them, such as injections or laser therapy, are performed using local anesthetics, which significantly reduces discomfort. Patients may experience slight pricking, burning, or tightness of the skin, but these symptoms usually disappear quickly after the procedure. If necessary, the doctor will always select appropriate pain relief methods to ensure maximum comfort for patients.
