Why does the valley of tears appear?
The delicate skin around the eyes is one of the first places where signs of aging become visible. Over time, the amount of collagen and hyaluronic acid decreases, and there is a loss of volume in the central part of the face. A hollow is then formed between the inner corner of the eye and the cheek, known as the valley of tears. This change causes a sunken-eye effect and makes the face look tired, even if we are rested.
What does the treatment consist of?
The procedure of filling the valley of tears with hyaluronic acid is safe, quick and minimally invasive. It begins with a thorough skin cleansing and the application of an anesthetic cream to minimize discomfort. The doctor then administers the appropriate hyaluronic acid preparation using a thin needle or cannula, which allows the filler to be evenly distributed in the tissue. The entire procedure is finished with a gentle massage for a natural effect.
The procedure takes about 30-60 minutes and does not require convalescence - the patient can immediately return to daily activities.
Effects of filling the valley of tears
After just one visit, you will notice a marked improvement in the appearance of the eye area.
The effects of the treatment are:
- Smoothing and shallowing the tear valley,
- reduction of dark circles under the eyes,
- Hydrating and firming the skin,
- Restoring a fresh, rested appearance,
- To equalize volume and improve facial contour.
The first effects are visible immediately after the procedure, while the final result is assessed after about two weeks, when the preparation has fully set. The results last from 6 to 12 months, depending on individual predisposition.
How to prepare for the procedure?
The procedure requires no special preparation. It is only recommended that about a week before the appointment, you refrain from taking blood-thinning medications, such as aspirin, and avoid alcohol consumption. Adults who are healthy and without active inflammation of the skin are qualified for the procedure.
What to do after the procedure?
Immediately after the procedure, you may experience slight swelling, redness or tenderness of the skin - this is a natural reaction that subsides within a few days. It is recommended to avoid for 2-3 days:
- visits to the sauna and solarium,
- intense physical exertion,
- Massaging the treated area,
- sun exposure.
After a few days, the skin looks visibly younger, and the look becomes brighter and more rested.

Filling the tear valley is recommended for people who notice:
- Dark circles and bruising under the eyes,
- depressions and loss of volume in the orbital region,
- Sagging and loss of firmness of the skin under the eyes,

The procedure is especially recommended for people with slender facial features, in whom the valley of tears becomes visible earlier, and for patients over 30, when the natural amount of collagen in the skin decreases.
