What is laser hair removal?
Laser hair removal involves the use of a concentrated beam of laser light, which is absorbed by melanin, a pigment found in hair follicles. The light energy is converted into heat, which damages the hair follicle and inhibits hair growth. The method is most effective on dark hair on light skin, as the contrast between the skin and hair colors allows the laser energy to be focused more precisely on the hair follicle.
How does the laser hair removal procedure go?
Before the treatment, a detailed consultation is carried out to assess the skin type, hair color and thickness, and the patient's general health. The day before the procedure, the area to be treated should be shaved with a disposable razor. It is important not to use an epilator, wax, or tweezers for at least 4-8 weeks before the procedure, as these methods remove hair along with the root, which may affect the effectiveness of the laser.
During the laser session, the patient wears special protective goggles, and a cooling gel is applied to the skin. The doctor then moves the laser head over the skin, emitting pulses of light. After the procedure, the skin may be slightly reddened, which is a natural reaction and subsides after a few hours.
Who can benefit from laser hair removal?
Laser depilation is suitable for people:
- With dark hair on light skin,
- With the problem of ingrown hairs,
- Those wishing to achieve a long-lasting smooth skin effect,
- Tired of frequent use of traditional depilation methods.
Effects of laser hair removal
After a series of treatments (usually 4-8 sessions at intervals of 4-8 weeks), you can expect a significant reduction in hair growth, smoother skin, fewer ingrown hairs, and, above all, long-lasting results without the need for daily hair removal.
