Even out your skin tone

Laser removal of hyperpigmentation and erythema is a very effective method of equalizing skin tone. It is not uncommon for this type of treatment to be a necessity to prevent worsening of the problem and the formation of so-called spider veins. This means that proper skin care is necessary for health reasons, not just for well-being.

Laser removal of hyperpigmentation and erythema - to whom is the procedure recommended?

Laser treatment for hyperpigmentation and erythema can be performed by people who have problems with rosacea, telangiectasias (vascular spider veins) and ruby and flat angiomas. Indications for its performance are also visible pigmentary changes and port wine nevi, which are congenital, benign malformations of capillaries, usually located in the neck and head area.

What is the purpose of the treatment?

Intense Pulsed Light, or IPL, technology is used to remove hyperpigmentation and erythema. It allows to equalize skin tone and significantly reduce the visibility of unsightly lesions. A special system of three filters concentrates light with a wavelength of 450 - 600 nm, which is selectively absorbed by oxyhemoglobin and melanin. During the procedure, the skin is not exposed to light of a different wavelength, which guarantees patient safety and greater comfort. The effect is visible after the first application of the Stellar M22 laser, and a series of 4 treatments, at 3-week intervals, is recommended for optimal results.

Preparation and course of treatment

How should one prepare for the procedure? The skin should not be tanned, and a month before the procedure one should avoid microdermabrasion, deep peels, as well as preparations with vitamin A derivatives, including retinol and isotretinoin. It is also inadvisable to use cosmetics that have acids and vitamin C in their composition. A week before the planned procedure, the patient should stop using teas and preparations with calendula and St. John's wort.

Laser removal of hyperpigmentation and erythema is a procedure that does not require anesthesia. It usually lasts from 15 to 30 minutes. The patient does not feel pain, but there may be a burning, stinging or pinching sensation. After the procedure is over, a regenerating protective preparation is applied to the treated skin surface. A return to daily activities is possible almost immediately, although redness and mild swelling may initially be visible on the face. On the second day, the hyperpigmentation usually becomes darker, and after about 5 days it begins to peel off, resulting in less visible or disappearing completely. For the first 3 days after the procedure, the patient should use a protective product to promote skin regeneration,
in turn, for a whole month it is advisable to protect the skin from UV rays (cosmetics with SPF 50 will help). It should also be remembered that for a week the patient should avoid alcohol consumption, use
of saunas, hot baths, intense exercise and similar activities that provoke overheating and skin congestion.

FAQ

Answers to frequently asked questions about a variety of treatments and procedures.

How to make an appointment at Dr Szczyt Clinic?

You can schedule a visit by calling 22 654 90 60 or via the website under Consultation appointments.

How do you choose the right treatment at Dr Szczyt Clinic?

The best way to choose the right treatment at a plastic surgery and aesthetic medicine clinic is to start with a consultation with a specialist. During the visit, the doctor will conduct a detailed medical interview, familiarize themselves with the patient's expectations, and assess their health and the specific nature of the aesthetic problem. Based on this information, they will advise on which treatments will be appropriate to achieve the desired results. The consultation also allows you to discuss the available options, their potential effects, and any possible risks, which makes it easier to make an informed decision.

What are the risks associated with plastic surgery procedures?

Every plastic surgery procedure, like any medical intervention, involves certain risks. The most common complications include infections, bleeding, reactions to anesthesia, and scarring. Less common complications include blood clots, pulmonary embolism, and sensory disturbances in the operated area. Proper preparation of the patient, careful qualification for the procedure, and the experience and professionalism of the medical team significantly minimize these risks. It is also important to follow the doctor's recommendations in the postoperative period, which allows for a faster and safer recovery.

Are aesthetic medicine procedures painful?

Aesthetic medicine treatments are usually minimally invasive and involve minimal discomfort. Most of them, such as injections or laser therapy, are performed using local anesthetics, which significantly reduces discomfort. Patients may experience slight pricking, burning, or tightness of the skin, but these symptoms usually disappear quickly after the procedure. If necessary, the doctor will always select appropriate pain relief methods to ensure maximum comfort for patients.
