What does breast implant removal with a lift involve, and what is the procedure like?
Breast implant removal with a lift is a surgical procedure that involves two steps: removing previously inserted implants and performing a breast lift, which involves lifting and reshaping the breasts. The goal is to restore a youthful shape to the breasts and improve their firmness after the implants are removed.
The procedure is performed under general anesthesia and usually takes between 2.5 and 4 hours, depending on the extent of the surgery. The surgeon makes incisions in specific areas, most often around the areola, along the lower edge of the nipple, or in an inverted T shape, allowing the removal of implants and excess skin, and then lifting the breast to the desired shape. The entire procedure ends with the placement of sutures and dressings.
How to prepare for breast implant removal with a lift?
As with other surgical procedures, a number of diagnostic tests are required before surgery. Blood count, clotting tests (APTT, INR), ECG, chest X-ray and hepatitis B vaccination are required.
A week before the surgery, blood clotting medications should be discontinued, and the patient should be fasting on the day of surgery. During the consultation, the surgeon discusses in detail the surgery plan, indications, as well as the patient's expectations regarding aesthetics and breast shape.
Recovery from breast implant removal with a lift
After the procedure, the patient may experience pain, there may be swelling and local bruising, which is a natural effect of the operation. Painkillers prescribed by the doctor are recommended to alleviate discomfort. After surgery, the patient must wear a specialized compression bra for several weeks to promote healing and breast formation.
In the first few days after the procedure, you should limit physical activity and avoid intense exercise. For about 4-6 weeks you should refrain from sunbathing, use of tanning beds and saunas. The first effects are visible after a few weeks, but the full result can be assessed only after 3-6 months.
What are the contraindications to the procedure?
The procedure is not recommended in cases of: pregnancy and lactation, infections, blood clotting disorders, unregulated diabetes, autoimmune diseases or cancer, hypertension.
The final decision to perform the procedure is made by the doctor after consultation and appropriate tests.
